6th Charity Home to Total $500,000 in Donations

Greenland Homes is giving back to its community by building a home in Ankeny. They will donate the greater share of the sale profit to Children’s Cancer Connection and the remainder to CASA and the Animal Rescue League.

Children’s Cancer Connection connects families across Iowa, affected by childhood cancer, by providing opportunities that encourage relationships and strengthen community.

Greenland Homes Raises Over $500,000 in Total Donations With their 6th Charity Home.

Since 2012, Greenland Homes and Tammy Heckart have donated over $420,000 to support programs and services that Children’s Cancer Connection provides through the sales of five previous charity builds. They’re excited to bring this total to $500,000 or more with the sixth charity build in 2020.

See How We Kicked Off the 2020 Charity Home!

We usually have a big groundbreaking ceremony when we kick-off a charity house, but this year things are a bit different because of COVID-19. However, we’re not letting that hold us back! We’re pretty creative when it comes to getting the job done. And as you can see from the video, we had plenty of motivation since Nora, our honorary project manager and cancer warrior from the Children’s Cancer Connection wants the house done before she goes to camp this summer (her first time going to camp!). We don’t want to let Nora down, so we got moving! Check it out!

“We do it for the kids!”

“From the ground up, our Charity Home is built through partnerships with local contractors who, like us, understand the importance of our mission,” said Corey Kautz, Greenland Homes Founder. “They contribute materials, installation, and their time. They do this to make sure we can donate as much as possible to CCC through the home sale. Our celebration event is a chance to show off our hard work and celebrate another year of giving.”

6th Charity Home Located in Ankeny

The Greenland Homes charity home listing is located at 1203 NW 29th St. in Ankeny, IA, in the development of Aspen Ridge. Greenland Homes was founded by Corey Kautz, who has been in the home building business since 2004. Tammy Heckart is an agent with the Re/Max Concepts’ Ankeny office and has been a top sales producer in Des Moines for 7 years.

Meet Nora, a Cancer Warrior & Spokesperson from the Children’s Cancer Connection

Greenland Homes and Tammy Heckart are honored to work with Nora Scott, a strong Cancer Warrior from Children’s Cancer Connection, throughout the process. Nora has agreed to help them kick-off the groundbreaking ceremony and will keep in touch throughout the building process offering support and guidance only a Cancer Warrior can offer!

Shortly after Nora turned two, she went to the doctor because some things didn’t seem quite right. After receiving abnormal blood work, she was sent to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital for further testing.

Nora was diagnosed with Stage-2, High-Risk, Pre-B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with a Central Nervous System Involvement. There were ups and downs throughout her journey, but her family’s faith remained, and Nora’s strength helped them get through. Nora went into remission on June 7th, 2017. October 21st, 2019, after completing 2 ½ years of chemotherapy, a very happy Nora had her port removed. Since then, Nora has been enjoying life as a typical preschooler.

Nora turns five this spring, and while her sisters have gotten to experience Children’s Cancer Connection’s Sibling Camp, she is looking forward to her first year at Oncology Camp.
